Dr. Joseph R. Fink has been president of Dominican University of California since the summer of 1988. Prior to joining Dominican, Dr. Fink served as the president of two other colleges: for nine years he was president of a private college in Pennsylvania and for five years before that time he was president of a public college in New Jersey.  

Dr. Fink holds a Ph.D. in American History from Rutgers University. He serves on the Board of Directors or is otherwise involved in several national and local organizations including the Council of Independent Colleges, the American Historical Association, the Association of Independent California Colleges and Universities, the North Bay Leadership Council, LINES Ballet, and the Commonwealth Club of California where he served as president during the Club’s Centennial Year.  

In the past he has served on the boards of the San Francisco Ballet, the World Affairs Council, the Marin Symphony, the American Land Conservancy, and Guide Dogs for the Blind. Dr. Fink has been awarded three honorary doctorates; from Rider University in New Jersey, College Misericordia in Pennsylvania, and Golden Gate University in San Francisco.
