Government Affairs
Mission
The Government Affairs Committee reviews and makes recommendations on legislation, candidates and ballot measures for final approval by the Board of Directors.
The Committee discusses local and state policy proposals in order to make recommendations to the Board of Director’s about the soundness of proposed policies and how they may impact NBLC and the North Bay region. It also makes recommendations to the Executive Committee regarding Candidates Political Action Committee (CPAC) and Issues Political Action Committee (IPAC) contributions for endorsed candidates.
Activities and Accomplishments
The Government Affairs Committee hosts Good Government Get-Togethers on a regular basis. These "Get-Togethers" are an opportunity for NBLC members to interact and discuss the issues with elected and appointed officials in an informal and comfortable setting, usually over breakfast or lunch. These "Get-Togethers" are vital in order to develop working relationships, and create a dialogue about policy decisions.
Additionally, this committee is also responsible for coordinating Candidates' Forums during campaign times, in order to provide membership and the public with the opportunity to ask questions regarding the issues of the North Bay to candidates and incumbents.
